Quantico Station is a United State Marine Corps base located in quantum, Virginia. It is situated near the town of Triangle, Virginia, and is part of the greater Marine Corps Base Quantico. The station is home to the Marine Corps Combat Development Command and the Marine Corps Defense Distance Learning Center, as well as various other units and agencies. Approximately 8,700 military, civilian, and contract employees work on the base, which covers 176 acres. There is no privatized family housing on the base but 240 bachelor enlisted quarters. There are no barracks for officers, and officers are encouraged to reside off-base in nearby communities such as Quantico, Stafford, and Woodbridge.
Education- The nearest school is Quantico Middle/High School, a pre-K through 12th-grade campus staffed by the Prince William County Public School district. Upon written request and with the blessing of the commander, students may also attend public schools in Stafford County.
RECREATION
The Base offers numerous recreational facilities and activities, several parks located throughout the base, including playgrounds, picnic areas, basketball courts, baseball, softball, and soccer fields. Additionally, the station boasts a beautiful Officer' Satter and an enlisted club, which hosts a variety of events.
QUANTICO STATION MISSION
Marine Corps Base Quantico is home to the command element of the Marine Air-Ground Task Force (MAGTF). When a MAGTF deploys, its command element usually remains at Quantico. Other major tenant commands include the Marine Corps Combat Development Command; the Marine Corps Systems Command; the Marine Corps Intelligence Activity; the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration's training academy; the FBI Academy; the Defense Intelligence Agency's Joint Military Intelligence College, and the Marine Corps' Officer Candidate School. Marine Corps Base Quantico is also the future home to the National Museum of the Marine Corps. This museum, set to open in 2020, will tell the story of the Marines' role in the conflicts from the Revolutionary War to the present day.
