marion,VirginiaMarion is a town located in Smyth County, Virginia, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 6,025. Since the town's founding in 1834, it has been the county seat of Smyth County.

Marion is situated in the southeastern part of the state, in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Interstate 81 runs through the town, offering direct access to Roanoke, Virginia, to the north, and Bristol, Tennessee, to the south.

One of the town's most notable attractions is the historic General Francis Marion Hotel. The hotel opened in 1928 and offered luxury accommodations to travelers on the Appalachian Trail. The hotel's ballroom was a popular venue for local dances and events. Today, the hotel has been renovated into a senior living community.
