Farmers Branch is a culturally diverse city with a wide range of events and activities. The annual Fall Festival celebration, Farmers Branch Independence Day Celebration, and Halloween in the Park are just a few of the activities sponsored by the city's Parks and Recreation Department.

Farmers Branch is also home to DFW's premier artisanal foods and craft beverage destination, The Frisco Railroad Hotel and The Frisco Emporium, a boutique hotel with dining, shopping, and entertainment.

With a diverse population of young professionals, families, and seniors who enjoy a suburban lifestyle just kilometers from DFW Airport and Dallas' city center, Farmers Branch is 15 miles northwest of downtown Dallas.

Although the first settler arrived in the 1840s, it wasn't until the late 1880s that the community began to identify itself with a new name---Farmers Branch. In 1926 it was incorporated as a city. This first schoolhouse, built in 1890, stood on the 10-acre tract that comprised the Lucas farm, and by 1914 there were 48 pupils enrolled.

Farmers Branch experienced a baby boom during the post-World War II era—reminiscent of the population growth experienced by many American cities—and by 1953 its population had more than tripled to 3300. The city's centennial celebration in 1947 included a parade, beard-growing contest, and beauty pageant.

The iconic Texan dancer, Red Steagall, was raised in Farmers Branch. Steagall held "Red Steagall's 28th Year Cowboy Poetry Gathering and Western Swingout" in Farmers Branch Texas in 2014.

Farmers Branch is a town with parks and trees that thrive, 28.6 ratio of green space to citizens. Farmers Branch purchased the original Las Colinas development in September 1998. Las Colinas Group was failing and the land was up for grabs.
