Tecumseh is a city in Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 6,457 at the 2020 census.

The city of Tecumseh was founded in 1892 and named for the Shawnee Indian chief, Tecumseh. The town was located along the Santa Fe Railway and was a shipping point for the farmers in the surrounding area. The town was incorporated on August 19, 1901, and had a population of 400. In 1902, a water system and electric plant were built, and a cotton gin and flour mill were established.
