Mason is located in southwestern Ohio, USA, in the northeastern part of Warren County, and it is part of the Cincinnati-Middletown, OH-KY-IN Metropolitan Statistical Area. It borders Lebanon to the north and west, Franklin to the northeast, Springboro to the east, and Middletown to the southwest. In 1815, a town was platted and named after its proprietor, John Mason. Its population grew slowly over the years, reaching 1,200 by 1870, and 2,000 by 1970. In 1971, the village was incorporated into a city. By 2000, the population had grown to 22,000. There were 15,000 households, 33,000 people, and 2,400 families in Mason's 2010 census. There were 15,532 housing units in total, with 14,088 of them being occupied. 6,418 of the occupied homes had children under the age of 18, 10,924 were married couples living together, 4.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.6% were non-families. 6,418 of the 15,000 households had children under the age of 18, and 44.6% were married couples living together.
