galion,OhioGalion is a city in and the county seat of Crawford County, Ohio, United States. The population was 3,647 at the 2020 census.

Galion was laid out in 1816, and named after the ancient city of Gallipoli (Turkey). The city sits at the forks of the Sandusky and Scioto rivers, at the north-central border of Ohio. Galion is about 60 miles (97 km) north of Columbus, the state capital, and 70 miles (110 km) southeast of Toledo.

Galion was once a center of agricultural trade, with railroad shops and manufacturing, including the Galion Iron Works, which made railroad cars and locomotives. Today, agriculture remains a major employer, along with small manufacturing businesses.

Galion is known for three things:

1.The local Galion High School football team plays on one of the largest (in terms of seating capacity) high school football fields in Ohio.

2.Galion is home to the Ohio Fish and Shrimp Festival, which attracts tens of thousands of people over a period of three days each August.

3.The community enjoys a free concert series in the downtown area known as "Galion Concert in the Park," which is held during the summer months.

In recent years, Galion has seen a small surge in development, especially in its downtown area. Its historic storefronts have been renovated and now house a mix of specialty shops, small eateries, and cultural attractions. In addition, a branch of the Crawford County Partnership for Education and Business, Galion-Crestline Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Galion Public Library help foster economic growth and tourism in the town.

Galion is part of the Mansfield−Bucyrus, OH Combined Statistical Area.
