Eden is a rural town, founded in 1807 by a group of pioneers from Connecticut who were strongly influenced by the ideas of the French Revolution. Eden was once known as "Busti's Burgh," after settler and philanthropist Rensor Busti.

Eden has a public library and several restaurants. Firemen's Park, a large park with sports facilities, a playground, and picnic areas, is located in Eden.

Since 1976, Eden has hosted an annual Garlic Festival, celebrating the area's long history of garlic farming.

Eden, New York, is situated in Erie County, which is in the northwestern part of the state. It falls within the Eden-Angola school district.
