The town of Colonie, in Albany County, New York, United States, is situated in the county's southern section. With a population of 81,898 as of the 2020 census, it is Albany's largest suburb.

The Mohican tribe, a subgroup of the lroquois confederacy, originally inhabited the region that is now Colonie. In 1630, the Dutch established a fur trading post in the area, and in 1654, they bought the land from the Native Americans. In 1665, the English got control of the region, and in 1686, they created the Manor of Colonie, a sizable estate that included what is now the town of Colonie. Over time, the hamlet of Colonie developed inside the Manor, and in 1895 it was formally constituted as a town.
