Washington Township, New Jersey, is a township. It is located in Gloucester County, New Jersey, in the United States.

In 1844, the township was incorporated. It was named after George Washington, who took over the commander-in-chief of the Continental Army in 1775, at the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The town's population is 48,559, according to the 2010 United States Census.

Washington Township has a public school system. The area combines four elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. The elementary schools are Birches, Folsom, Greentree, and Bells Lake. The middle school is Orchard Valley. The high school is Washington Township High School.
