Allendale is a borough in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2020 United States Census, the borough's population was 6,792.
Allendale was formed on February 11, 1894, from portions of Franklin Township, Hohokus Township and Orvil Township.

Allendale hosts various community events throughout the year. During the summer months, the Allendale Community Band performs weekly concerts at the band shell in the park, located across from the Allendale Library.
The Allendale farmers' market is held on Saturday mornings throughout the summer and features local produce, artisans, and community groups.
The borough hosts a fall festival with local food vendors and crafters, as well as a Halloween parade.
Each December, Allendale hosts a Community Tree Lighting and a holiday-themed craft fair.

Allendale is home to a variety of family-owned shops. Gary's Wealth of Wellness, a natural food store, has been in continuous operation since 1982. Park 80 West is a shopping center located in Allendale, housing a variety of stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue, Lord and Taylor, and Eastern Mountain Sports.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough had a total area of 4.55 square miles (11.79 km2), including 4.46 square miles (11.58 km2) of land and 0.09 square miles (0.23 km2) of water (2.07%).
Allendale is located in the eastern part of Bergen County. The borough borders the Bergen County municipalities of Franklin Lakes to the north, Hohokus to the east and south, Saddle River to the west and Upper Saddle River to the northwest. Allendale also borders Passaic County to the southwest.
Allendale is served by the Allendale Public Schools school district.
Allendale students in public school for seventh through twelfth grades attend Northern Highlands Regional High School in Allendale, as part of a sending/receiving relationship with the Northern Highlands Regional High School District.
Students from Allendale and surrounding communities are educated at Bergen County Technical Schools, which includes Bergen Tech in Teterboro and Paramus, and the Bergen County Technical School for the Arts in Hackensack.

In 1894, Hohokus Township was partitioned to form the boroughs of Allendale and Upper Saddle River. Seven residents of the area signed a petition asking the state legislature for formation of a new borough, which was signed on February 11, 1894.
The community was named for David Allan, a merchant, who lived in the area around 1840. Alternative spellings of the name included Allen and Allan's Corner.
Allendale has evolved into a primarily residential community of single-family homes.
The construction of Interstate 80 in the 1950s and 1960s led to increased development in the area.
Allendale has a humid continental climate (Dfa) and hardiness zone 7. The average monthly temperatures in Allendale range from 29.3° F in January to 74.9° F in July.
In August 2015, a group of residents gathered and formed the Allendale Green Team, a grassroots sustainability committee dedicated to promoting a healthy, sustainable community.
The Allendale Green Team initiated the "Clean Air Countdown" program, which encourages residents to turn off their engines when their cars are parked for more than 30 seconds.
