Columbia is a city in Marion County, Mississippi, United States. The population was 6,582 at the 2010 census. Columbia was founded in 1800 by European Americans, who named it after the historic Columbus, Mississippi. It was incorporated in 1801.

Most of Columbia's early settlers were of English, Scottish, and Irish ancestry, as well as some African Americans. The city grew rapidly as a center for agriculture and trade, principally in cotton and lumber.
