The village's 1.2 square miles (3.1 square kilometers) are located at 39°5′48″N 76°48′27″W / 39.09667°N 76.80750°W. Glenarden and Landover Hills, two other communities in Prince George's County, Maryland, border Woodmore to the north, Martins Landing, and Glenn Dale to the east, Lanham to the south, and the Capital Beltway to the west (I-495).

Woodmore has a population of 3,535, according to the 2010 US Census, which also states that there are 1,022 males and 2,513 females.

The racial makeup of the city was 64.1% White, 31.5% Black or African American, 0.3% Native American, 3.4% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, and 2.4% from two or more races. 2.8% of residents were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 1,398 households, out of which 38.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.8% were married couples living together, 4.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 47.1% were non-families. There were 37.4% of households made up of individuals, and 5.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.45, while the average family size was 3.07.

The first Woodmore resident to be elected to public office was Village Mayor Mary L. P. Hynes, who served two terms as a member of the Prince George's County Council. She held office from December 6, 1978, until December 3, 1986.
