The area was formerly known as Surrattsville until being renamed after the 42nd President of the United States, Bill Clinton.

History:

In 1879, William H. Surratt, a local businessman established a general store at the crossroads of Old Branch Road and Piscataway Road, which later developed into a bustling commercial center known as Surrattsville. At the initiation of the Maryland General Assembly in 2000, the community officially adopted the name Clinton in tribute to former President Bill Clinton.
