The population of Alexandria was 8,477 at the 2020 United States Census. Alexandria forms part of the Cincinnati-Middletown, OH-KY-IN Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Alexandria is historical in that it was the birthplace of L&N Railroad and home to Alexandria Community Park which includes a basketball court, a tennis court, a sand volleyball court, a walking trail, a playground, a picnic shelter, and a lake.

Alexandria is famous for its beautiful outfields and vast cornfields. Alexandria is well known for its laid-back culture.

Some of the popular events that take place are:

Winterfest: A yearly event that takes place at the end of January. It started as a way to bring the community together during the winter months when there wasn'y much else going on. They have bounce houses, games, crafts, and food.

Spring Fling: Each spring, they close down main street for a few hours and allow kids and adults to play games, bounce in bounce houses, eat, and have fun.

Taste of Alexandria: They close down main street for a few hours and have food and drink vendors (alcohol and non-alcoholic) set up. There is normally at least one band playing somewhere along main street.

Truck or Treat: Downtown trunk or treat is held on Halloween. The kids dress up and the parents take them from car to car to "trunk or treat".

Christmas Light Parade: A yearly parade that happens downtown. Each year, there is a theme. The floats are made to follow that year's theme.

The old railroad Depot: During the 1800s, the Louisville, Cincinnati and Lexington railroad built a line that ran between Cincinnati and Lexington. In 1840, a large, two-story depot was built along the railroad line in Alexandria, and served as the town's post office for some time.

Alexandria Community Park: This beautiful 26-acre park is located on Alexandria Drive just east of US-27. The park features bball court, tennis court, sand volleyball court, walking trail, picnic shelter, and a playground.

Alexandria's History museum: The Alexandria History Museum is a small, grassroots museum located in the old train depot on Main Street.

A man named Elmer Sharp had a vision for a new history museum in the old railroad depot and spent most of the 1980s gathering artifacts for his "dream" museum. The Alexandria Historical Society was established in 1986 and the museum finally opened i987. It was Sharp's goal to preserve the rich history of Alexandria, Kentucky and the surrounding areas.

The museum is home to thousands of local artifacts donated by the community. Special exhibits include "Then and Now," which compares life in the 1920's to life today, and a replica of the Depp's one-room schoolhouse that operated in the area until 1933.

Campbell County Historical Society And Museum.

The Campbell County Log Cabin, just north of Alexandria, Kentucky, was the home of Dr. John Gist, a Revolutionary War patriot. Dr.Gist had a distillery on the property and made apple whiskey. In 1813, he gave the deed to the property to his daughter Amanda, who had married Major David Ziegler. The cabin sits on 18 acres of land, 7 miles north of Alexandria.

Located in the southern part of Campbell County on 462 acres, A.J. Jolly Park includes the 27-hole Al Jamison golf course, 27 acres of fishing lakes, picnic shelters, nature trails, playgrounds, athletic fields, and a mountain bike trail. There is something for everyone here.
