Sandy Springs is a city in Georgia, United States. It is located in northern Fulton County, just north of Atlanta. As of the 2020 census, the population was 109,452.

Sandy Springs is Georgia's seventh-largest city (by population) and the second-largest city in Atlanta's northern suburbs.

In 1842, the Austin-Johnson House was erected in what is now Sandy Springs. It was last lived in by Dr. Julius Arthur Johnson and his family.

Before becoming a modern, urbanized suburb, the area was rural farmland.

At the same time that much of the surrounding area was developed into suburban neighborhoods, the Johnson family worked to protect their heritage by donating the home to the Heritage Sandy Springs Museum, a complex that includes a restored Revolutionary War-era home, a rebuilt 19th-century barn, a garden, and a visitor's center.

Heritage Sandy Springs Museum is a popular cultural attraction.

There are more than 20 public parks, including a dog park, six community parks, and 16 neighborhood parks. Sandy Springs offers a wide range of recreational programs and services for all ages, including adult sports leagues, youth sports, teen programming, and summer camps.

Sandy Springs has a hot-summer humid subtropical climate.

Atlanta has the busiest airport in the world, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

Interstate 285 and Georgia 400, which run along the western, northern, and eastern borders of the city, respectively, provide easy access to Sandy Springs. Additionally, the city has three MARTA transit stations.

Sandy Springs is home to several Fortune 500 companies andUS headquarters of international companies, giving it the best business environment in the Southeast according to the magazine Site Selection.

Since being incorporated in 2005, Sandy Springs has been a city for less than 20 years, making it the youngest city in the northern suburbs of Atlanta and one of the youngest cities in Georgia.

Sandy Springs was recognized as the "best run" city in the region in 2010 by Governing Magazine.

In November 2005, voters in the northern Fulton County community of Sandy Springs overwhelmingly supported becoming a city, asking for the first new city in metro Atlanta in nearly a century, founded on a promise of better service, lower taxes, and a crackdown on crime.

Sandy Springs outsources most of its services, keeping only the minimum staff necessary to run a city of 98,000 residents.

Since incorporating, both residential and commercial properties have increased in value.

As of the end of 2012, Sandy Springs had over 1,000 businesses.
