Naples, Florida, is a beach town in Collier County, which occupies the tip of a large peninsula that juts into the Gulf of Mexico in Southwest Florida. Naples has a population of around 20,000.
The city, which was founded in the late 1800s, was developed by a group of wealthy Kentuckians who loved its soft climate and beautiful beaches. It's still a popular tourist destination and a popular day trip from nearby Fort Myers. Many visitors come for the offshore island access, beautiful beaches, and outdoor recreation activities. The warm water of the Gulf of Mexico and the bay offer ample fishing opportunities, boating adventures, and a number of water sports. Fishing, sailing, boating, and stone crab claws are just some of the attractions and landmarks visitors can enjoy when visiting Naples.
