History:
The early inhabitants of Agoura Hills were the Chumash Native Americans. About 10,000 years ago, the area was home to the Tongva Native Americans, who were later known as the Mission Indians after Spanish Mission San Fernando was built in 1797.
Spain granted Miguel and Gaspard Dientillo Robredo, two Mexican farmers, what is now Agoura Hills in 1800. One century later, in 1900, the first residents of European descent settled there.
In 1871, taxidermist and conservationist Agoura Rockwell McLintock Simons purchased what is now Agoura Hills, and 30 years later, his son built a home on the property.
Finally, in 1923, the "Father of Agoura Hills," movie producer Cecil B. DeMille, bought Paramount Ranch and spent years filming movies there. DeMille decided to film a movie in Agoura Hills, purchasing lots with various locations in the area over the years.
