Lake Havasu City is a city in Arizona, USA. It is situated on the southwestern coast of Lake Havasu, a large artificial lake created by the construction of the Parker Dam on the Colorado River. Both World War II veterans and retirees seeking leisure activities flocked to the region in the 1950s. In 1958, Robert P. McCulloch purchased 3,353 acres of property on the lake's southwestern coast with the intention of constructing a new town. On September 22, 1963, a ground-breaking ceremony was held to start building Lake Havasu City. The site was opened as a planned community. McCulloch Properties bought Lake Havasu City in 1978. London Bridge was transported from London to Arizona and rebuilt in Lake Havasu City in 1971. The bridge has turned into one of Arizona's most recognizable symbols and a well-known tourist destination.
